The PDRA forum of the School of Materials is organising a workshop to introduce a possible career route for PDRAs – spinning out your research into the commercial sphere!
Outside academia, postdocs working in engineering and physical sciences tend to look for jobs in the industries. This event will introduce and address the challenges of moving from a postdoctoral position to the world of the entrepreneur. There will be talks from University of Manchester Intellectual Property (UMIP) and Manchester Business School (MBS) about navigating IP and sourcing funding. There will also be a few speakers from spin-out businesses some of whom worked in universities as postdoctoral researchers followed by a panel discussion to engage the audience for further discussion. There will also be snacks and drinks available after the event.
