In issue 17 of INCITE we asked Professor Nancy Papalopulu from the Faculty of Life Sciences for advice on grant writing.

Her advice included breaking the big question of your research down into a set of smaller, more solvable questions, choosing the correct funding body to apply for, and planning the timing of your proposal perfectly.

Many “baby steps” can be taken by researchers before any thoughts of a full grant proposal, including applying for travel grants, or working in a collaborative research team.
