Our own TV channel?

Perhaps a whole TV channel would be overly-ambitious, but the Researcher Development Team in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) is planning to create a range of online videos for researchers. Using in-house expertise in video editing and e-learning, they have already created a resource for new PhD students, featuring advice and personal stories from more experienced PhD researchers and from successful academic staff.

Videos for Researchers

What advice and true stories would you like to hear from experienced academics? Perhaps what they look for when recruiting new staff, hints for gaining funding, or how they make their lectures interesting? Send your suggestions to the EPS team, who will look at creating a useful recording, to form an online resource for research staff.

Videos by Researchers

Could you create your own short video or audio podcast, to profile your research? Researchers in EPS can now access support and resources to create personal research videos. Similar support in the MHS Faculty has enabled researchers to add video profiles to their page on ResearchConnect. As Gemma Muckle says, “Researchers at several leading UK universities are now creating short videos to showcase their research online. The internet is becoming more multi-media, and researchers are quick to see the benefits this can bring them.”
